Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Billy Savage (ranked 5603 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Weberly (ranked 9419 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weberly closes the distance and clinches.
Weberly is trying to pull guard but Savage turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Weberly tries to pull guard but Savage won't allow it.
Weberly is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Weberly is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Savage pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Billy Savage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Weberly.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Weberly.

Savage has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Weberly regains guard immediately.
Savage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Weberly wants to stand up but Savage is controlling him.

Savage darts in looking for a takedown but Weberly gets double underhooks and turns Savage into the cage.

Weberly gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Weberly is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Savage is trying to push Weberly away but Weberly has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Weberly has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Savage uses from the top position.

Savage is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Weberly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Savage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Savage has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Savage gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Savage closes the distance and clinches up with Weberly, looking for a takedown. Savage pushes Weberly against the cage but Weberly circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Weberly smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Savage shoots for a takedown but Weberly saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Weberly shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Savage as he avoids it easily.
Weberly pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Savage is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Weberly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Weberly wants to improve his position but Savage is controlling well.
Savage takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Savage shoots in and bounces Weberly off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Savage perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
