Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Quinoa Smiff (ranked 632 p4p, 91 weight class) and Calabi Yau (ranked 1477 p4p, 204 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Quinoa Smiff has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Quinoa Smiff seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smiff uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yau.
Yau ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smiff moves away.
Yau clobbers Smiff with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Yau lands a right hook to the body.
Smiff throws a body punch but Yau moves out of range.

Smiff clinches.
Smiff wants to get back to striking at distance but Yau won't allow it.
Yau stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Yau throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Smiff blocks it with crossed arms.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smiff is trying to push Yau away but Yau has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Yau lands with a short shot to the head.
Yau misses with a hook to the ribs.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Smiff just misses with a elbow thrown towards Yau's brow.

Yau has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Quinoa Smiff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smiff is on top in guard.

Smiff is looking to take a break and control but Yau is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Yau throws a body shot but no joy.
Yau connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Smiff fails with a takedown attempt.
Smiff swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Yau counters by moving into the clinch.
Smiff throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Yau lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Yau using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smiff has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Smiff is trying to maintain a safe position but Yau gets an underhook and turns Smiff into the cage.
Yau lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Smiff.
Smiff jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Yau walks away with a smile on his face. Smiff gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinoa Smiff. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yau throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smiff stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Yau stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Yau wants it to stay on the feet.

Smiff is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Yau lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Smiff backwards.
Yau has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Calabi Yau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Yau moves into range and connects with a jab.
Yau lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Yau uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smiff.
It seemed like Yau was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Smiff fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Yau to the ground. Smiff is now in Yau's guard.
Smiff stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yau swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smiff tries to score with some ground and pound. Yau controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The strikes coming from Smiff are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Quinoa Smiff has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Quinoa Smiff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Smiff tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Smiff is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yau is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Smiff swings around for an armbar but Yau sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smiff's guard.

Yau wants to pass to mount but Smiff is defending the position.
Smiff tries to roll over but Yau keeps him under control.
Calabi Yau is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Yau wants to control but Smiff is keeping him busy.

Yau is pressing down on Smiff's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smiff is holding on for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

I would just about give that final round to Calabi Yau.
