PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lamont Hawkins (ranked 2854 p4p, 288 weight class) and Konner McKregor (ranked 2360 p4p, 234 weight class). Hawkins kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M. Lamont Hawkins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A left lands for McKregor.
Hawkins dodges the punch combination from McKregor.
McKregor cracks Hawkins with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
McKregor has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

McKregor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hawkins to score an easy takedown into full guard.

McKregor is working an open guard so Hawkins takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
McKregor throws a front kick aimed at Hawkins's knee but Hawkins avoids it well.

McKregor gets to mount! Hawkins was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McKregor throws a sloppy head kick and Hawkins moves out of range easily.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
McKregor lands with a thumping leg kick.

Hawkins throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McKregor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hawkins is in McKregor's guard.

McKregor scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Nice uppercut lands for McKregor. That snapped Hawkins's head back.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hawkins shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McKregor's guard.

McKregor manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hawkins keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
