Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royal Vasquez (ranked 6230 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skralde Spand (ranked 6131 p4p, 0 weight class). Spand has chosen Ghostemane - Venom as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Skralde Spand!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Vasquez takes the fight into the clinch.
Vasquez managing to block the knees to the body from Spand.
Vasquez takes a shot to the head.
Spand prevents Vasquez from breaking the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Vasquez.
Spand is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Vasquez is defending well for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spand has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Vasquez clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Spand is looking to control Vasquez but Vasquez is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Vasquez is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Spand off. It looks like it's working - Spand slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Vasquez displaying calm under pressure there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vasquez is trying hard to land a takedown here. Spand sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Royal Vasquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Spand counters with a three punch combo that has Vasquez backing up. Vasquez nods at Spand to acknowledge the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spand displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vasquez.

Vasquez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Spand's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vasquez wants to stand and escape but instead Spand has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Vasquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Vasquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Vasquez shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Spand is trying to keep Vasquez in close.
Spand is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close second round but I would say that Royal Vasquez will probably get the nod.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Spand. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Spand rolls with it to try and escape but Vasquez cranks on the arm and Spand is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
