Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hudson (ranked 2299 p4p, 235 weight class) and Rustam Shakhbulatov (ranked 918 p4p, 95 weight class). Shakhbulatov has chosen Sabina Saidova - Dagestan as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Rustam Shakhbulatov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jeff Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rustam Shakhbulatov!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shakhbulatov lands a right hook to the body.
Shakhbulatov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hudson.
Shakhbulatov misses the shot to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shakhbulatov has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Hudson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Shakhbulatov connects with a looping right hand.
We've been hearing reports that Hudson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hudson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shakhbulatov as he jumps to the side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hudson.
Shakhbulatov throws out a counter right but Hudson avoids it with no problem.

Shakhbulatov lands a nice shot to the body.

and Shakhbulatov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Hudson shoots in for a double leg but Shakhbulatov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A little jabbing left from Shakhbulatov on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hudson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shakhbulatov is fending him off so far but Hudson persists. Nope, Shakhbulatov circles away and we're back to standing.
Shakhbulatov dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Shakhbulatov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hudsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Hudson shoots in but no luck this time.

Hudson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shakhbulatov pinned against the cage. Shakhbulatov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Shakhbulatov is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Hudson with a body shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shakhbulatov digs a good body shot into Hudson's ribs.

Hudson takes one to the side of the head.
Shakhbulatov lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hudson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hudson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Shakhbulatov smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Oh Hudson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hudson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shakhbulatov avoids it really well and circles away.
Shakhbulatov scores with the left hand. Hudson knows he should have avoided that one.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hudson gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Shakhbulatov gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rustam Shakhbulatov!
Rustam Shakhbulatov seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
