Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Shirley Hawkins (ranked 25177 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beau Ruane (ranked 9249 p4p, 708 weight class). Beau Ruane has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Shirley Hawkins's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shirley Hawkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Beau Ruane!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ruane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawkins looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Hawkins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hawkins stops Ruane from passing to mount.
Hawkins is looking for a sweep.

Ruane stands up.

Ruane shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ruane showed some decent athleticism there.
Hawkins is staying active underneath Ruane, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ruane is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ruane thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hawkins keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Ruane trying to control the action but Hawkins is working from the bottom.

Ruane wants to take a breather but Hawkins is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ruane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruane wants it to stay on the feet.
Ruane throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hawkins tried to counter with a leg kick but Ruane avoided it.

Ruane looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hawkins!
Hawkins wants to control but Ruane postures up.
Hawkins stops Ruane from passing to mount.

Hawkins is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Ruane controlling the position easily from mount.
Hawkins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hawkins suckers Ruane into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Hawkins is now in Ruane's guard!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ruane is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ruane throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ruane is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hawkins defends well.
Ruane is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beau Ruane dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ruane throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hawkins was covering up waiting for the punch and Ruane finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ruane stands up and waves to Hawkins to follow him.
Ruane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ruane closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hawkins did well to prevent Ruane getting side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hawkins keeps working.

Hawkins wants to improve his position but Ruane is controlling well.
Ruane performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Ruane is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ruane is looking to take a break and control but Hawkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Hawkins looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Ruane wants to control but Hawkins is keeping him busy.
Ruane trying to control from Hawkins's half guard. Hawkins has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Ruane slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hawkins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hawkins trying to keep a closed guard but Ruane is proving a slippery customer.

Ruane drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hawkins dives on top into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkins won't allow Ruane to sweep him here.
Ruane has Hawkins pulled in close to control his posture.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hawkins lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Ruane displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hawkins.

Ruane has Hawkins up against the cage in a clinch.

Beau Ruane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Hawkins has a takedown stuffed.
Ruane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Ruane throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ruane decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Hawkins is trying to control Ruane's posture but Ruane avoids it.

Hawkins is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ruane off and has taken his back!
Hawkins has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ruane's body.

Beau Ruane comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ruane has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
