Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Thanh Thornton (ranked 6205 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick James (ranked 6282 p4p, 475 weight class). Rick James will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James falls off balance throwing a combination

and Thornton counters by clinching up.
Thornton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Thornton will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning James up against the cage.

James decides to pull guard.

James looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Thornton passes into half guard.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Thornton pulls his head out easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Thornton keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

James looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Thornton is defending well. James quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Thornton has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! James celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Rick James spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
