PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marc Santana (ranked 6267 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaa Aaa (ranked 8197 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Aaa Aaa was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marc Santana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaa Aaa!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Aaa counters with a body kick.
Aaa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Aaa rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Santana counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Santana clinches.
Santana really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Santana prevents Aaa from breaking the clinch.

Aaa wants the takedown. Santana is fighting it off but Aaa persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Santana's guard against the cage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Santana is pulling down on Aaa's head to control his posture.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santana is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Santana gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Aaa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A big right from Aaa misses.

Aaa shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Aaa showed some decent athleticism there.
Aaa prevents Santana from improving his position.
Santana is trying to control but can't.
Santana wants to improve his position but Aaa is controlling well.
Aaa is thwarting Santana's attempts to control the position.

Aaa perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Santana regains full guard. Nicely done.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Aaa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santana has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Aaa has managed to get both his arms back between Santana's legs - danger averted.

Aaa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Santana is proving hard to escape from.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Aaa fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Santana to the ground. Aaa is now in Santana's guard.

Santana will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

and Santana counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Santana gets tackled into the cage by Aaa. Aaa maintains the clinch.
Aaa is trying to break free.
Santana has Aaa pressed against the cage.
Santana tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Santana breaks from the clinch.

Aaa shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Aaa was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Santana throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Aaa tightens his grip and picks Santana up, before dumping him to the ground. Santana manages to land in guard.

Santana gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Aaa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Santana manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Aaa keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aaa closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santana to the mat! Santana manages to get full guard.

Aaa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Santana sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Aaa scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


Santana is rocked!

Aaa drives through with a takedown into Santana's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Let's hope that Aaa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Santana wants to hold on but Aaa pushes him away.
Santana is just holding on here. Aaa manages to take his back.

Santana is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Aaa.
Aaa is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Aaa gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Aaa gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Aaa apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Aaa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Aaa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Aaa throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Aaa has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santana uses from the top position.
Santana throws a strike but Aaa rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Aaa is working Santana over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Santana has his foot on Aaa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aaa works his way back into a safe position though.

Santana is trying to control Aaa's posture but Aaa avoids it.
Aaa scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Santana to see if he's OK.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santana is looking to control Aaa's arms but Aaa gets an underhook and turns him. Now Santana has his back to the cage.
Aaa presses Santana against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Aaa manages to break the clinch.
Santana seems to have got his legs back now.

Aaa gets a takedown into half guard.
Santana is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Santana is doing well to control the position and prevent Aaa from advancing to side control.
Aaa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Santana manages to get to full guard.
Santana trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Santana seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Santana working for a triangle but Aaa defends it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aaa Aaa comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Aaa winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Aaa Aaa decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
