Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lee Wells (ranked 6156 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaxen Ruane (ranked 25166 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaxen Ruane has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Lee Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jaxen Ruane!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wells.
Wells really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Wells darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ruane gets full guard.
Wells wants to pass the guard but Ruane is keeping the position.

Ruane pushes Wells off and gets back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wells avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ruane closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ruane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ruane wants it to stay on the feet.
Ruane misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wells changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Ruane throws a head kick that misses

and Wells counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wells got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ruane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wells has managed to get both his arms back between Ruane's legs - danger averted.
Ruane is adopting a defensive guard.
Ruane controls Wells momentarily but Wells frees himself.
Ruane is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ruane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Wells has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wells wants to stand but Ruane is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Ruane scores with a sloppy right hand. Wells should have avoided that one.
Ruane keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lee Wells. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ruane throws a head kick that misses.

Ruane wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ruane displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wells.
Wells stuffs the takedown.
Wells shoots in looking for a takedown. Ruane tries to sprawl out of it but Wells keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ruane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Ruane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wells sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruane somewhat.
Wells will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ruane is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wells's half guard.
Wells wants to stand back up but Ruane manages to pass into side control.
Wells is breathing heavily.
Ruane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wells keeps working.
Wells tries to improve position but can't.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Wells is looking for a sweep.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaxen Ruane dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Wells takes a kick to the side of the head.
Wells shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ruane sprawls well. Ruane wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wells gets slowly back to his feet.
Ruane cracks a nice hook into Wells's ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whack! Ruane lands a heavy head kick that drops Wells. The ref tackles Ruane to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Wells was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Jaxen Ruane!
