Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Simon Brinkwater!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Barros swings away with a body shot that misses

and Brinkwater holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
De Barros jumps guard but Brinkwater turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Brinkwater stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Brinkwater is pressed up against the cage. De Barros has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Brinkwater down to the mat. Brinkwater avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
De Barros slaps away a takedown attempt from Brinkwater, before circling back to the center of the mat.
De Barros throws a head kick that misses
and Brinkwater counters with a three punch combo that has De Barros backing up. De Barros nods at Brinkwater to acknowledge the strikes.

It looks like Simon Brinkwater has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brinkwater bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
De Barros throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
De Barros connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Brinkwater momentarily.
De Barros swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Brinkwater tries to counter by closing the distance.
De Barros punishes Brinkwater's body with a nice straight punch.

De Barros tries to bum rush Brinkwater with a series of wild strikes but Brinkwater uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

De Barros cracks Brinkwater with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Brinkwater looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can De Barros finish him?

Brinkwater rushes De Barros and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
De Barros wants to break the clinch but can't.
A bit of stalling here from Brinkwater.
De Barros tries to pull guard but Brinkwater holds him up against the cage and eventually De Barros drops back down to his feet.

De Barros is looking to break free of the clinch but Brinkwater has double underhooks.

Brinkwater has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. De Barros seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Brinkwater can turn it around.

De Barros wants to stand but Brinkwater has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
De Barros is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Brinkwater pulls De Barros in close to his closed guard and prevents De Barros from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
