These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Card tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Remirez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Remirez slips under a jab from Card.
Remirez swats away the attempt to clinch by Card.
Card swings widly with a right hand
letting Remirez counter with a right hand.

Card rushes Remirez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Remirez blocks the elbow strike.
Remirez takes an elbow to the forehead.


It looks like Jorge Remirez has been cut.

It seemed like Remirez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Card throws the left hand but Remirez avoids the punch easily.

and Remirez counters with a left to the body.
Card definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

and Remirez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Card is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Remirez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Remirez is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Card had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

The fight stays on the outside here - Card looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Remirez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Card.

Card controlling the position using the Thai clinch, unloads with a massive knee! Boom! He's out cold and slumps to the floor against the cage! I can't wait to see the slow motion replay of that one!
