PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Louie Litt (ranked 1468 p4p, 203 weight class) and Brian Grimes (ranked 4530 p4p, 495 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brian Grimes was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Louie Litt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Grimes!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grimes uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Litt.
It seemed like Grimes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Litt tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grimes was well out of range. Poor timing from Litt.
Litt with a poor takedown

Litt gets off balance looking for a body kick
enabling Grimes to counter with a crisp jab.
A telegraphed right hand from Grimes misses the target.
Litt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Litt has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Grimes scores with a hook to the body. Litt takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Litt throws a poor cross that misses
and Grimes counters with a stiff right hand.
Litt looks to throw the jab but Grimes is out of range.
Grimes tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Litt walks into a jab.
Grimes loads up on a big right hand but Litt slips the punch.
Litt misses with a straight left.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Grimes! But no joy.
Litt looks to land a right hand but Grimes moved out of range.
Brian Grimes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Grimes digs a good hook to Litt's body.

Grimes just misses with a punch to the body.
Litt throws a lazy uppercut
and Grimes connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grimes has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Litt walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Litt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Grimes tries to avoid it but Litt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Grimes to the ground. Grimes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Grimes slips a jab from Litt.
Litt pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Litt avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Litt misses with a two punch combination.

Litt closes the distance and pushes Grimes back into the cage.
Litt scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Grimes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Grimes fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Litt rushes Grimes and presses him up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Litt tries to throw a body punch but Grimes avoids it by throwing Litt back against the cage.

Grimes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Grimes throws the left hand but Litt avoids the punch easily.
Litt misses with an uppercut.

Donk. Grimes catches Litt right on the button with a cross.
Litt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A slow jab from Grimes misses its intended target.
Grimes cracks Litt with a good jab.
A punch lands to the side of Litt 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Brian Grimes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grimes tries to bum rush Litt with a series of wild strikes but Litt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Grimes is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Litt had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Litt throws out a loose jab but Grimes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Grimes connects with a nice looking jab.

Litt closes the distance and clinches.
Litt keeps control of Grimes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Grimes blocks an uppercut.
Litt tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Grimes's elbow.

Grimes lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Grimes throws a jab when Litt was well out of range.
Grimes scores with a decent looking hook.
Grimes throws a shot from downtown. Litt moves away and avoids it.
Grimes misses with a body shot.
A left lands for Grimes.
Litt throws out a loose jab but Grimes uses good head movement to avoid it.
Grimes smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Litt gets a clinch.
Litt tries a body shot but Grimes blocks it.
Grimes is trying to push Litt away but Litt has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Litt misses with a punch to the body.
Grimes lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Litt doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Litt struggles to land a body shot inside as Grimes controls his hands.
Litt tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Litt tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Grimes's elbow.
Litt tries to work over Grimes's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Grimes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Litt drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Litt throws a strike but Grimes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Litt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Grimes manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Grimes dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A nice side step and Grimes releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Litt bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Grimes lands a nice hook to Litt's body. Litt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Litt drops his hands momentarily and Grimes takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Grimes cracks a nice hook into Litt's ribs.

Litt fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Litt throws a push kick but Grimes slaps the foot to one side.
Grimes lands with a nice combination. Litt backs away looking to recover.
Litt looks for the body kick but Grimes saw that one coming.
Grimes flicks out a counter leg kick but Litt steps away.

Grimes throws a hook to the side of Litt's head but Litt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Litt is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Grimes thows a left - swing and a miss!
Grimes lands with a cross.
Litt walks into a stiff left hand from Grimes.
Grimes swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Litt is looking to counter punch.
Litt scores with a nice right hand.
Grimes throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Litt sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Grimes sizes up Litt with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Grimes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Litt pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Litt misses with a body kick.
Litt misses with a takedown
and Grimes counters with a straight right hand.
Grimes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Litt can pounce on him.
Grimes lands with a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Grimes feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Litt sprawling to the canvas! Litt rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Grimes finish him?!


Litt is rocked!
Grimes cracks Litt with a hook to the temple - Litt is on wobbly legs here! Grimes swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Litt falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Grimes wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Brian Grimes!
Brian Grimes decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
