The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DaSilva sizes up Kidd with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

It looks like Rodrick Kidd has been cut.
DaSilva throws a leg kick

and Kidd counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kidd.

DaSilva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kidd keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of DaSilva's head.
Kidd stands up over DaSilva, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Kidd postures up in DaSilva's guard and throws a big left but DaSilva blocks it.

DaSilva is looking for a triangle but Kidd pushes his legs off easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

DaSilva working for submissions but it's allowed Kidd to get to half guard.
Kidd throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Kidd working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

DaSilva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kidd pulls his head out easily.

DaSilva is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kidd's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kidd's back!
Kidd is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Kidd turns into DaSilva and is now in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

DaSilva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kidd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but DaSilva is tightening it up a little... Kidd has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kidd reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kidd taps out! Nice BJJ there by DaSilva!
