PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anton Mammoth (ranked 956 p4p, 29 weight class) and Kalle Karlsson (ranked 796 p4p, 20 weight class). Mammoth comes to the cage accompanied by I came to bring the pain. Karlsson has chosen Carolus Rex - Sabaton as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anton Mammoth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kalle Karlsson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karlsson lands a big uppercut and Mammoth crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Mammoth looks OK. Karlsson waves Mammoth back to his feet!
Mammoth throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Karlsson on the side of the head.


It looks like Kalle Karlsson has been cut.
Mammoth scores with a shot to the body.
Karlsson blocks a head kick by Mammoth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mammoth throws a jab but it's blocked by Karlsson.
Mammoth jabs Karlsson right on the nose. Karlsson blinks but takes it well.

Mammoth shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Mammoth is looking for a kimura but Karlsson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mammoth to get the leverage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mammoth is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Karlsson is just riding it out for now. Mammoth eventually gives up the hold.
Mammoth keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Mammoth working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Karlsson's thigh. Karlsson counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Mammoth slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mammoth wants to pass the guard but Karlsson is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mammoth passes into half guard.

Mammoth is looking for a kimura here.
Karlsson is controlling Mammoth's trapped leg to prevent Mammoth from advancing to side control.
Karlsson is not content to let Mammoth control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mammoth is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Karlsson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mammoth.

Mammoth tries to pass the half guard into mount. Karlsson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Mammoth is trying to work for a kimura but Karlsson is defending well.
Karlsson tries to get to full guard but Mammoth has control of the leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mammoth is working for a submission of some sort.
Karlsson is looking to control Mammoth's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Karlsson avoid being mounted?

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Anton Mammoth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karlsson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mammoth.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Karlsson! But no joy.
Mammoth loads up on a big right hand but Karlsson slips the punch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mammoth scores with a decent looking hook.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Karlsson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Mammoth misses with a hook. Karlsson ducked under it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mammoth scores with a kick to the body.
Mammoth throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little jabbing left from Karlsson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Mammoth ducks under a wild hook from Karlsson.
Mammoth throws a body shot but no joy.
Anton Mammoth is winning the standup battle so far.
Mammoth misses with a body shot.
Karlsson throws out a counter right but Mammoth avoids it with no problem.
A telegraphed right hand from Mammoth misses the target.
It seemed like Karlsson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mammoth.
Mammoth shoots in for a double leg but Karlsson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Karlsson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Karlsson throws a poor cross that misses
and Mammoth counters with a left to the body.
Mammoth uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Mammoth throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Karlsson blocks a head kick by Mammoth.
Karlsson is looking for the big counter here.
Mammoth is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Karlsson can do to turn this around?
Karlsson takes one to the side of the head.
Mammoth throws a jab when Karlsson was well out of range.
A head kick by Mammoth misses
and Karlsson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mammoth cracks a nice hook into Karlsson's ribs.
Karlsson slips a jab from Mammoth.
A little jabbing left from Karlsson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Kalle Karlsson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mammoth feints and as Karlsson raises his hands in defense, Mammoth changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mammoth trying to control but Karlsson is working from the bottom.

Mammoth is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mammoth stopping the sweep attempt from Karlsson.
Mammoth wants to stand but Karlsson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mammoth passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Mammoth tries for a kimura but Karlsson is defending well.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Anton Mammoth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mammoth trying to control the position but Karlsson is working away.

Mammoth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Karlsson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
What's Karlsson going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
You can see the frustration on Karlsson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karlsson just misses with a punch to the body.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Karlsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mammoth moves away.
Mammoth misses with a straight right.
Karlsson throws out a counter right but Mammoth avoids it with no problem.
Mammoth tests Karlsson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mammoth misses with a jab, cross combination.
Karlsson looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Mammoth takes a jab right on the kisser.
Karlsson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mammoth.
Mammoth cracks Karlsson with a hook to the temple - Karlsson is on wobbly legs here! Mammoth swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Karlsson falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Mammoth wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Anton Mammoth!
Anton Mammoth decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
