Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hades Anderson (ranked 1293 p4p, 176 weight class) and Bill Newton (ranked 1554 p4p, 211 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson scores with a punch to the head.
Newton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Anderson defends it nicely.

Newton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Newton is thwarting Anderson's attempts to control the position.
Newton wants to control but Anderson is keeping him busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Anderson is trying to get back to full guard.
Newton looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Anderson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Newton pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Newton looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Newton is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Anderson defends it well.

Newton is working for a submission of some sort.

Newton is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Anderson sees it coming and defends easily.
Newton wants to control but Anderson is keeping him busy.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Newton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Anderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Anderson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Anderson duly obliges.
Anderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Newton manages to avoid it.
Newton ducks under a wild hook from Anderson.

That was a close round but I would say that Hades Anderson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Newton shoots for a takedown but Anderson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Newton changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Anderson throws a looping overhand right but Newton ducks down to avoid it.
Newton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Newton tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Anderson defends well and Newton ends up having to push Anderson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Newton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Anderson as he jumps to the side.
A little feinted left hand from Anderson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
The fighters circling - Anderson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Newton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Anderson misses with an uppercut

and Newton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Anderson's guard.

Newton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Anderson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Newton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Newton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Anderson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Newton defends well.

Newton shoots for a double leg takedown but Anderson sprawls well. He's pushed Newton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Bill Newton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Anderson avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Newton.

I would just about give that final round to Bill Newton.
I think Anderson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Hades Anderson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
