PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adrik Vasilev (ranked 1560 p4p, 220 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 1738 p4p, 245 weight class). Vasilev comes to the cage accompanied by Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Remix Radio Edit). Brown has chosen Some Bodies Gonna Get It as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adrik Vasilev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasilev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And Brown tries to counter it with a takedown but Vasilev pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Vasilev looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Brown stuns Vasilev with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Brown gets tackled into the cage by Vasilev. Vasilev maintains the clinch.
Vasilev working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Vasilev pushes Brown back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Vasilev closes the distance and pushes Brown back into the cage.
Vasilev throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Brown blocks it with crossed arms.
Vasilev misses with a short punch on the inside.

Brown on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Vasilev manages to break the clinch.

Vasilev swings for the body but Brown moves out of range.
Vasilev throws a right and a left that Brown avoids nicely.
Brown tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Brown fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vasilev avoids it really well and circles away.
Vasilev tries a head kick but it misses.
Vasilev throws a leg kick which misses Brown's front leg but catches the back leg as Brown tries to avoid it.
Brown ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vasilev moves away.

And Brown tries to counter it with a takedown but Vasilev pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Brown decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Brown lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Brown is looking to take a break and control but Vasilev is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Vasilev holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Brown is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Brown takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vasilev sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat.

Vasilev gets caught napping as Brown dives in and scores a takedown. Vasilev manages to retain guard.

Vasilev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brown's guard.

Brown has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Let's hope that Brown has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Vasilev wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Brown changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vasilev tries to avoid it but Brown manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vasilev to the ground. Vasilev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Brown drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

A nice side step and Brown releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vasilev but Vasilev pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Brown dives in and grabs Vasilev's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vasilev pushes down on Brown's head and hops out.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vasilev connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vasilev walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Vasilev, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
