Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pietro De Negri (ranked 5774 p4p, 453 weight class) and Huffy Meadows (ranked 7830 p4p, 528 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pietro De Negri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Huffy Meadows!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping body kick lands there for Meadows.

Meadows feints and as De Negri raises his hands in defense, Meadows changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Meadows is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! De Negri is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! De Negri has escaped and now he's on top!

Meadows wants to hit a switch here but De Negri passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Meadows there!
Meadows is trying to stand up.
De Negri landing strikes from the mount and Meadows is in trouble!
De Negri scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Meadows?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
De Negri looking to control and managing it successfully.
Meadows is in all sorts of trouble here.

De Negri takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Meadows tries to reverse the position but De Negri maintains control.

Meadows wants to control but De Negri is having none of it.

De Negri lands a couple of good shots and Meadows has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Meadows is trying to stand back up.
De Negri has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
De Negri scores with strikes from the back.
Meadows is trying to get back to his feet but De Negri has full control of the position and if anything, Meadows has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Meadows is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by De Negri.

De Negri is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Meadows has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
You can see the frustration on Meadows's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Meadows rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
De Negri working over Meadows with some ground and pound. Meadows looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
De Negri is nestled in close to Meadows, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

De Negri is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Meadows sees it coming and defends easily.

Meadows is defending against the submission attempts here by De Negri.
Meadows won't allow De Negri to pass to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pietro De Negri dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Meadows thows a body kick. De Negri tries to catch it but that hurt him.
De Negri is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Meadows can do to turn this around?
Meadows throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
De Negri throws a leg kick but Meadows sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Meadows fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with De Negri, pushing him back against the cage.
De Negri slows down the pace here.
Meadows tries to break the clinch but De Negri is controlling the position.
De Negri's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Meadows wants to get back to striking at distance but De Negri won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
De Negri has a couple of punches blocked by Meadows.

Meadows throws a head punch that misses.

Meadows breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Meadows throws a nice inside leg kick.

De Negri tries a head kick but it misses.
Meadows tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. De Negri manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

De Negri has taken the fight to the clinch.
De Negri goes for a takedown attempt but Meadows pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

De Negri drives through with a takedown into guard.
Meadows wants to stand but De Negri is controlling the position.
De Negri trying to control the position from guard on top but Meadows is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Meadows looking for subs off his back but De Negri has passed one foot through into half guard.
Pietro De Negri overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Meadows looks like he's trying to stand up.

Meadows is looking to get back to is feet but De Negri passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Negri is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Meadows is trying to escape and De Negri transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Meadows is forced to tap! Nice work there by De Negri! Very nice indeed!
