Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AJ White (ranked 4088 p4p, 501 weight class) and Jeremy Maki (ranked 6263 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, AJ White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeremy Maki!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

White drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Maki has a closed guard, preventing White from standing up.
White trying to control the position from guard on top but Maki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Maki looking for a guillotine here but White defends easily.
White slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maki pulls White in to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maki wants to sweep but no luck.
White working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Maki's head.
White wanted to stand there but Maki had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

White is trying to maintain the position but Maki is very close to passing his half guard.
Maki missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
White on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if White tries to get out of the position.
Maki performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maki on the ground.
Maki trying to pass the guard but White defending well.
White wants to improve his position but Maki is controlling well.

White looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Maki landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Maki passes to side control.
Maki throws an elbow but White slips to the side and avoids it well.
White is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Maki is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down White's shoulder. That is not cool.

Maki goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, White has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Maki but great work by White.
Maki regains half guard.
Maki makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Maki.
Maki keeping moving, preventing White from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White looking to sit in guard and control but Maki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Maki stays in close to White's body and controls the position.
White can't keep his opponent in guard - Maki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Maki is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and White defends it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremy Maki dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


White tries for a takedown but Maki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice sprawl there from Maki as White shoots in.
White circles away from the clinch attempt
and White counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Maki with a lazy takedown attempt
and White cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Maki moves into range and clinches up with White.
White tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for AJ White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
White wants a takedown but no success here.
White drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Maki gets the underhooks and prevents it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maki tries to break the clinch but White is controlling the position.

White escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Maki wants to clinch but White slips to the side
and White counters with a one-two to the body.

White shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Maki napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jeremy Maki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Maki manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Maki wants to free his trapped foot but White is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Maki is thwarting White's attempts to control the position.
Maki is trying to control. White wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Maki not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Well, if Maki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Maki thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

White is trying to control Maki's posture. Maki takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for White! Maki is rotating here... this could be the end... White is out! Maki has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
