PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Drogo (ranked 4431 p4p, 0 weight class) and Smash Punch (ranked 21592 p4p, 0 weight class). Smash Punch told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Karl Drogo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Smash Punch!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drogo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Punch has time to react.
Drogo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Karl Drogo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drogo avoids a punch combination nicely.
Drogo connects with an inside leg kick.
Punch misses with a series of wild punches.
Punch takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Drogo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Punch's hands.

Oooh a lovely combination from Drogo sends Punch down but not out. Drogo dives into side control looking to finish.

Punch is rocked!

It looks like Smash Punch has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drogo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Drogo throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Punch stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Drogo follows into mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Drogo controlling the pace for now.

Drogo is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Drogo lands with a thumping leg kick.
Drogo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Karl Drogo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Drogo throws a series of punches but Punch moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Punch. Those never looked like landing.
Drogo is pawing at Punch, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Punch's nose. Punch is badly hurt! Drogo pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Punch tries desperately to hold on but Drogo is relentless in his assault! As Punch receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Drogo away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Drogo!
