PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Chuck Griffen (ranked 22772 p4p, 615 weight class) and Julian Wallace (ranked 6493 p4p, 475 weight class). Wallace has chosen scotland the brave as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Chuck Griffen has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Griffen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Julian Wallace!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallace lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wallace.
Wallace throws a left and a right that both miss
and Griffen counters with a series of strikes. Wallace will be more careful next time no doubt.
Griffen lands a jab to the nose.
Wallace will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Griffen throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Wallace on the side of the head.
Julian Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Griffen has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Griffen manages to break the clinch.
Wallace is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Griffen.

Nice straight punches there by Wallace. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Wallace.
Griffen drops his hands momentarily and Wallace takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

That was a close round but I would say that Chuck Griffen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Griffen throws a nice looking combination but Wallace bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Griffen digs a right hand underneath Wallace's ribcage. Wallace let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Griffen takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

The referee is keeping an eye on Griffen - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That was a close second round but I would say that Chuck Griffen will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Wallace feints and then cracks Griffen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Griffen down.

Despite the aggression on Wallace's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

As Wallace tries to get set, Griffen tries to push him back and clinch up but Wallace manages to avoid the attempt.
Wallace throws out a leg kick but Griffen moves out of range and Wallace only half commits.
Wallace scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Chuck Griffen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Griffen clinches up with Wallace and pushes him back against the ropes.

Chuck Griffen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Griffen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
