The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliver throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mendes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Oliver dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Oliver avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Oliver! But no joy.
Oliver swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mendes counters with a big head kick but Oliver shrugs it off.
Mendes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

It appears Mendes was looking to counter with a kick there.

Mendes lands a high kick!

Oliver lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Mendes sprawling to the canvas. Oliver follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Mendes hang on?

It looks like Gilmar Mendes has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oliver decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Oh Mendes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Oliver let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Oliver throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Oliver connects with a right that clearly hurt Mendes. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Oliver proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Mendes collapses and taps out under the pressure!
