PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonah Brennan (ranked 25076 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krisz Alandi (ranked 6240 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonah Brennan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krisz Alandi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Alandi.
Alandi working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

The strikes coming from Alandi are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Alandi is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Brennan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Alandi throws a strike aimed at the side of Brennan's head but Brennan avoids it well.
Alandi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Brennan's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alandi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Brennan is looking for a sweep.
The ground and pound from Alandi seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Brennan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Brennan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alandi on the ground.

Alandi is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Brennan's shoulder. That is not cool.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alandi postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Alandi throws a head kick but Brennan moves out of range.

Brennan moves in looking to clinch but Alandi pushes him off.

It looks like Jonah Brennan has been cut.

Alandi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alandi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brennan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Alandi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Brennan is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alandi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Alandi throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Nice straight punches there by Alandi. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Alandi.
Krisz Alandi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alandi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Alandi dives in and scores a takedown into Brennan's guard.
Brennan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Alandi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brennan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Krisz Alandi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Alandi darts in and clinches Brennan up against the cage.
Brennan tries to circle away but Alandi has him pinned against the cage.

Brennan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Alandi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alandi in particular looking to stall.

Alandi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Brennan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alandi uses his free foot to push down on Brennan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Brennan.

Brennan looks to land a left hand but Alandi moved out of range nicely.

Brennan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alandi walks away with a smile on his face. Brennan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

The referee asks Alandi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alandi prefers to stall for the moment though.

Alandi has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Brennan has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alandi has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Brennan's body.

Krisz Alandi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alandi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
