PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between WIlliam Black (ranked 4681 p4p, 431 weight class) and Lamar Jackson (ranked 8494 p4p, 543 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jackson 's choice of entrance music: Many Men. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson is looking to control Black's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jackson avoid being mounted?
Black takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Black perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Black really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Black avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jackson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Black's head backwards.
Black uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Jackson .
As Jackson looks to move away, Black throws a big counter combo but Jackson just gets out of the way.

Black has managed to clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Jackson - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Black is looking to control Jackson 's arms but Jackson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Black has his back to the cage.
Black looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Black wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jackson has him pressed against the cage.
Black is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jackson to keep the fight standing.

Black's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Black dives in and grabs Jackson 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Black's head and hops out.

Black tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Black is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Black is pressing down on Jackson 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jackson is holding on for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Black gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Black is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

It looked like Black was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jackson tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jackson to the ground. Jackson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That kick from Jackson tenderised Black's leg. Black is trying to keep his angry face on.

Black ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Black no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
