PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Raymond Donde (ranked 3267 p4p, 302 weight class) and Ty Cruz (ranked 7443 p4p, 507 weight class). Ty Cruz told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Raymond Donde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ty Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donde looks to throw the jab but Cruz is out of range.
Cruz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Cruz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cruz.
Cruz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Cruz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Donde's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Donde is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cruz throws a big elbow that misses.

Donde working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cruz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cruz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Donde is looking to cinch up a triangle. Cruz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Donde's body to avoid the submission. Donde has instead reached around Cruz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Donde arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Raymond Donde!
After winning the bout, Raymond Donde thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
