PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Simic (ranked 8471 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Gracie (ranked 4123 p4p, 0 weight class). Simic kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Beat it. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Simic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
Gracie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie postures up in Simic's guard and throws a big left but Simic blocks it.

Gracie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gracie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gracie advances to half guard.
Gracie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gracie is nestled in close to Simic, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gracie in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie wants to control but Simic is keeping him busy.
Gracie winds up and cracks Simic with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Simic is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Gracie is nestled in close to Simic, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Gracie working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Simic regains full guard. Nicely done.
Gracie stands and throws Simic's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gracie cracks Simic with a big elbow.
Gracie advances to mount.
Gracie lands with some strikes.

It looks like Mirko Simic has been cut.
Gracie postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Simic is out cold - huge knockout for Gracie!
