Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Shinnie (ranked 3480 p4p, 116 weight class) and Ulysses Grant (ranked 3617 p4p, 120 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ulysses Grant!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Grant misses.
Grant swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Grant backs away, Shinnie returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Grant rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shinnie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ulysses Grant seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good leg kick by Shinnie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Grant throws a poor cross that misses
and Shinnie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Ulysses Grant has been cut.
Shinnie throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Grant lands a slapping body shot.
Shinnie buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
A big left from Grant misses.
Grant darts in and clinches Shinnie up against the cage.

Shinnie throws a punch but it's blocked by Grant.
Grant lands with a short head shot on the inside.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Grant misses with a body punch.
I was talking to Shinnie's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Shinnie misses with a punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shinnie wants to get back to striking at distance but Grant won't allow it.
Shinnie fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Shinnie blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Grant blocks an uppercut.
Shinnie breaks the clinch.
Grant takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Grant tries to clinch but Shinnie moves out of range.
The fight stays on the outside here - Grant looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shinnie stalks Grant and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Grant's face. Grant staggers backwards, shaken.
Grant darts in trying to clinch
and Shinnie counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Grant just misses with a punch to the body.
The fighters circling - Grant throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shinnie throws a half hearted mid kick.
Grant lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
It looks like Kevin Shinnie has been cut.
Grant moves out of range of the body kick from Shinnie.
Grant fails in his attempt to clinch.
Shinnie was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shinnie circles away from the clinch attempt
and Shinnie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Grant darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Grant keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shinnie connects with a right hand. Grant shakes it off.
Grant looks to score with a jab to the body but Shinnie is just out of range.
Grant wants to clinch
letting Shinnie counter with a right hand.

Grant tries to clinch but Shinnie moves out of range.
Shinnie lands with a shot to the body.
Shinnie misses with a kick to the body.
Grant is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Grant tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shinnie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shinnie lands a jab.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Shinnie.
Shinnie misses with a wild body shot.
Grant takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Shinnie keeps the fight on the outside.
Shinnie fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grant manages to avoid it.
Grant misses with a left hand
and Shinnie connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A solid leg kick lands there for Shinnie.

Grant wants to clinch
and Shinnie counters with a stiff right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A shot to the body from Grant misses
and Shinnie counters with a stiff right hand.
Shinnie looks to land a body kick but Grant moved away.
Shinnie jabs at Grant's body.
Grant looks winded!
Shinnie connects with a body shot.
Grant is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Shinnie Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Grant is out cold, face down on the mat!
