PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Jonas (ranked 7218 p4p, 639 weight class) and Damon Scandrick (ranked 8671 p4p, 688 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jonas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Burnin Up-Jonas Brothers. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Damon Scandrick!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scandrick fails in his attempt to clinch.

Scandrick creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Jonas blocks an elbow strike.
Jonas dodges an elbow strike from Scandrick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jonas pulls guard effortlessly.
Jonas seems keen to control Scandrick's posture.

Jonas is trying to control the position but Scandrick postures up.
Jonas bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Scandrick's guard.

Jonas pushes down on Scandrick's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Jonas is looking for a kimura here.
Jonas content to control rather than advance.

Jonas is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Scandrick is just riding it out for now. Jonas eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jonas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Jonas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scandrick does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jonas takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Jonas lands strikes from half guard.
Jonas thows a huge punch but Scandrick dodges it nicely.

Jonas working over Scandrick with some ground and pound. Scandrick looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Jonas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scandrick keeps working.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jonas lands a couple of good shots and Scandrick has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
A bit of a pause in the action here. Jonas controlling the positon.

Jonas is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Scandrick knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Scandrick for a finish.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jonas lands a shot to the head.

Jonas looking to break Scandrick's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Scandrick remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jonas will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That's time! Jonas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Jonas waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Scandrick. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Scandrick to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Scandrick is still looking wobbly from the end of the last round!

Scandrick wants to stand and escape but Jonas is having none of it.
Jonas postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Scandrick covers up, he's hurt! Jonas keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Jonas and the ref steps in to end the fight! Jonas can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). George Jonas!
