The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nagibov tries to clinch

and Vutin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Vutin decides to stand and escape the position.
Nagibov wants to clinch up but Vutin keeps it at a distance.
Nagibov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vutin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rahib Nagibov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nagibov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Nagibov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vutin quickly recovers to half guard.

Vutin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Vutin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nagibov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nagibov gets to his feet. Vutin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Nagibov moves in looking to clinch but Vutin pushes him off.
Vutin half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Nagibov fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Vutin to the ground. Nagibov is now in Vutin's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Vutin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nagibov's guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Pladimir Vutin will probably get the nod.

Nagibov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vutin's half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vutin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vutin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nagibov for as long as he can get away with.

Vutin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Vutin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
