PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Super Meat Boy (ranked 1784 p4p, 50 weight class) and Sam Sung (ranked 3979 p4p, 121 weight class). Sam Sung told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Super Meat Boy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sam Sung!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sung gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Sung breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sung throws an overhand right that lands on Meat Boy's shoulder, as Meat Boy tries to avoid the shot.
Sung's coach down at Bi-Polar Asylum LV's #1 Public Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sung's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Sung misses with a jab to the body
and Meat Boy counters with a stiff right hand.

It looks like Sam Sung has been cut.
Meat Boy cracks the inside of Sung's front leg.
Sung checks a leg kick.
Meat Boy lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sung at a distance.
Meat Boy thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Sung if he has to take too many more of those.
Meat Boy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sung finds it's way round the side to connect with Meat Boy's head.

It looks like Super Meat Boy has been cut.
Sung moves in looking to clinch but Meat Boy pushes him off.
Meat Boy lands a leg kick that knocks Sung off balance momentarily.

Sung darts in and clinches Meat Boy up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sung is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Sung tries to break the clinch but Meat Boy is controlling the position.
Meat Boy goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Meat Boy's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Sung has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Meat Boy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Sung backwards.

That has opened up Sam Sung's cut even more.
Meat Boy struggles to land a body shot inside as Sung controls his hands.

Sung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Meat Boy throws a body shot but no joy.
Meat Boy lands with a shot to the body.
Sung tries to clinch up
and Meat Boy counters with a nice low kick that buckles Sung's knee momentarily.
Sung takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Meat Boy fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sung.
Meat Boy feints and then cracks Sung's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sung down.

Sung fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sam Sung seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Meat Boy buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sung crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Meat Boy - the referee stops the clock and Sung gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Meat Boy. Sung manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Meat Boy cracks Sung with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Meat Boy has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sung to stand back up!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Meat Boy wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Meat Boy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Meat Boy sends Sung crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Meat Boy is motioning to the referee to let Sung up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

The cut above Sam Sung's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Meat Boy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Sung has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sung walks into a picture perfect straight right hand from Meat Boy! He's gone down face first to the canvas, unconscious before he even hit the floor! Ohhhh. My. Goodness! That boys and girls was a beautiful knockout! Give that man a biscuit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Super Meat Boy!
A less than humble Super Meat Boy misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
