Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dieter Schaafs (ranked 2922 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Johnson (ranked 3806 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Johnson's choice of entrance music: Miami Vice Theme Song. Don Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Johnson lands a two punch combo.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Johnson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Johnson connects with a right hand. Schaafs shakes it off.
Schaafs is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Schaafs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson wants to counter the offense by Schaafs and move into the clinch position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schaafs definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Johnson in particular looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schaafs is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Johnson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Schaafs is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Don Johnson!
A relieved looking Don Johnson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
