Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Carpenter (ranked 635 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddie Stokes (ranked 3978 p4p, 0 weight class). Stokes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Never Scared by Whole Wheat Bread kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Freddie Stokes!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carpenter there as he acknowledges the shot.
Nice uppercut lands for Carpenter. That snapped Stokes's head back.


It looks like Freddie Stokes has been cut.
Carpenter blocks a jab.
Stokes blocks a head kick by Carpenter.
A nice side step and Stokes releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Carpenter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Stokes moves away.
Stokes scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Carpenter misses with an attempted mid kick.
Carpenter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Stokes shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Freddie Stokes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Carpenter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Carpenter fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Stokes is out of range.

Stokes ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Stokes throws a lazy right hand but Carpenter sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Carpenter tries to land a front kick but Stokes steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

It seemed like Stokes was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Carpenter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Carpenter lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Carpenter has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Stokes.

Stokes looks to land a right hand but Carpenter moved out of range.

and Stokes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Carpenter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Carpenter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stokes.
Stokes lands with a hook. Carpenter tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Stokes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carpenter was well out of range. Poor timing from Stokes.
Stokes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Carpenter manages to avoid it.

Carpenter goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Carpenter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Stokes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stokes looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Some bone on bone action there as Stokes checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Carpenter finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Stokes uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Carpenter throws out a leg kick but Stokes moves out of range and Carpenter only half commits.

Carpenter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Stokes stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carpenter lands a big head kick that sends Stokes tumbling to the mat! Carpenter takes a step backwards and waves Stokes back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Freddie Stokes's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Freddie Stokes's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
