PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Fury (ranked 160 p4p, 0 weight class) and Camilo Covarrubias (ranked 3843 p4p, 0 weight class). Fury comes into the arena with J Dilla - Time: The Donut of the Heart blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Camilo Covarrubias!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covarrubias throws an off balance right hand

and Fury counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Covarrubias really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fury. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Fury is pushing down on Covarrubias's leg trying to pass to half guard. Covarrubias is fighting to maintain full guard but Fury has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fury is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Fury is looking for a kimura here.

Fury looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Covarrubias can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fury uses his free foot to push down on Covarrubias's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Covarrubias.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fury is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Covarrubias is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Covarrubias flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Fury anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Covarrubias and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Fury slips an arm under Covarrubias chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Fury has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Fury is squeezing on Covarrubias like an anaconda would it's prey. Covarrubias fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bob Fury!
During a confident post fight interview, Bob Fury thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
