PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony O Rangers (ranked 1156 p4p, 131 weight class) and Feargus Urquhart (ranked 2861 p4p, 329 weight class). O Rangers kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Hold on to you. With a record of 37 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Feargus Urquhart!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
O Rangers takes one to the side of the head.

O Rangers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Rangers is trying to control. Urquhart wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
O Rangers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
O Rangers is taking a breather. Urquhart says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
O Rangers wants to free his trapped foot but Urquhart is holding on for dear life with his legs.

O Rangers is looking to stall here but Urquhart recovers full guard.
Urquhart looking to hit a scissor sweep but O Rangers is one step ahead there.
O Rangers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Urquhart is keeping the position for now.
Urquhart keeping moving, preventing O Rangers from controlling successfully.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Urquhart is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
O Rangers landing some decent shots from guard.

Urquhart is looking to stand up but O Rangers isn't so interested in that idea.

O Rangers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A left lands for O Rangers.
Urquhart walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Urquhart with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling O Rangers to score with a decent uppercut.
Urquhart works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Urquhart gets caught flat footed, as O Rangers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Urquhart is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. O Rangers presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
O Rangers tries to throw a body punch but Urquhart avoids it by throwing O Rangers back against the cage.

Urquhart escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
O Rangers lands a jab.
Urquhart looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Urquhart throws a jab but it's blocked by O Rangers.

O Rangers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A little jabbing left from Urquhart on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

O Rangers cracks Urquhart with a big right hand and Urquhart goes down!

O Rangers looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Urquhart is still in real trouble! Can O Rangers finish him?

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
O Rangers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and O Rangers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
O Rangers controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Urquhart seems to have recovered his senses.
Urquhart keeping moving, preventing O Rangers from controlling successfully.
Urquhart not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
O Rangers tries to free his leg and advance position but Urquhart is retaining full guard.
O Rangers wants to control from the top but Urquhart keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looked like O Rangers was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Urquhart.
Feargus Urquhart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Urquhart slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Urquhart throws an uppercut from half a mile away. O Rangers sees it coming and avoids it easily.
O Rangers staying out of range there.
O Rangers lands with a nice body punch.
Urquhart is breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

O Rangers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Urquhart looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
O Rangers works to advance to full mount. Urquhart defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Urquhart wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by O Rangers.
O Rangers tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
