The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Vattakkuzhi. That snapped Salah's head back.

Vattakkuzhi leaves Salah with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Salah closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vattakkuzhi to the mat! Vattakkuzhi manages to get full guard.

Salah is pushing down on Vattakkuzhi's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vattakkuzhi is fighting to maintain full guard but Salah has managed to sneak the leg through.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Salah wants to free his trapped foot but Vattakkuzhi is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Salah frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Vattakkuzhi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Salah. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Salah gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Vattakkuzhi let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
The crowd cheers as Vattakkuzhi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Salah doesn't seem phased though.

Salah is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Vattakkuzhi's half guard.
Vattakkuzhi pushes Salah off but Salah dives into side control.

Salah has hold of Vattakkuzhi's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Vattakkuzhi tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Salah cranks the arm and Vattakkuzhi screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Vattakkuzhi, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
