Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Onera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Benito Rulli!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rulli checks a leg kick.
A little jabbing left from Rulli on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Rulli stuffs the takedown.
Rulli wants to counter the offense by Onera and move into the clinch position.
Rulli is looking to clinch.
Onera looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Rulli moves out of range of the leg kick from Onera.
Onera shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rulli but Rulli pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Onera misses with a low kick.
Rulli bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Onera is trying to get back to half guard.
Onera wants to control but Rulli postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ground and pound from Rulli seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Onera stops Rulli from passing to mount.
Rulli working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Onera manages to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Onera wants to control but Rulli is keeping busy.
Onera is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rulli's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rulli's back!
Rulli looking very determined here, making life difficult for Onera.
Onera patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Onera struggling to land strikes to the head as Rulli covers up.
Rulli staying busy and making it hard for Onera to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Onera is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Rulli has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Onera has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Rulli taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Onera doesn't care though - he's delighted!
