PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Erik Hiller (ranked 3475 p4p, 341 weight class) and Reno Rawlings (ranked 1290 p4p, 151 weight class). Hiller comes into the arena with Rush and Run - Shake and Jump blaring out of the sound system. Rawlings has chosen Burned as his entrance music. Erik Hiller has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erik Hiller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reno Rawlings!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hiller throws a leg kick

and Rawlings counters with a single leg into guard. Hiller didn't expect that.

Hiller manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Rawlings scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hiller doesn't seem bothered though.
Hiller doesn't manage to clinch there - Rawlings circles away.
Rawlings doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hiller misses with a head kick.
Hiller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Rawlings counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rawlings looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hiller is fending him off so far but Rawlings persists. Nope, Hiller circles away and we're back to standing.
Rawlings slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Hiller looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rawlings has picked Hiller up and slammed him! Hiller can't keep hold of the triangle and Rawlings manages to pass to side control!

Rawlings is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hiller is just riding it out for now. Rawlings eventually gives up the hold.

My spies in White's ELITE Fitness Gym inform me that Rawlings has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Reno Rawlings seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Reno Rawlings showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Hiller tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rawlings avoids it.

Rawlings changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hiller fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Rawlings scores with a jab. Hiller acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hiller looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Rawlings shoots in looking for a takedown but Hiller manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rawlings's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
