The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puno works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Puno scores with a punch to the head.
Tusing Pocc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Puno lands with a cross.

Pocc dives in and scores a takedown into Puno's guard.
Puno wants to sweep here but Pocc controlling him for the moment.
Pocc has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Pocc trying to control but Puno is working from the bottom.
Puno seems keen to control Pocc's posture.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pocc accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pocc is looking to work some ground and pound but Puno has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Puno is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Pocc drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pocc jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Puno is on top in guard.

Puno slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Puno must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pocc throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Puno stays in close to Pocc's body and controls the position.
Puno's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pocc had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Puno defends it easily.
Puno controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pocc looking for a guillotine here but Puno defends easily.

Pocc is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Puno is aware though and is defending well.
Pocc can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Puno controls the pace.
Puno stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pocc swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Puno engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Puno has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Canadian Elite Bruins Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Puno in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pocc is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Puno perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Puno is continuing to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Manny Puno dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pocc fails with a takedown attempt.
Despite the aggression on Puno's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Pocc with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Puno to score with a decent uppercut.
Puno lands a jab to the head.
Puno is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Pocc looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Puno throws out a counter right but Pocc avoids it with no problem.
Pocc doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Puno counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tusing Pocc. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Puno has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Puno pounces like a tiger and cracks Pocc with a vicious hook! Pocc is down but not out! Puno follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
