Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Snitch (ranked 4206 p4p, 460 weight class) and Charles Hawtry (ranked 4207 p4p, 461 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Snitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Charles Hawtry!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snitch tries to clinch but Hawtry is having none of it.
Hawtry throws out a counter right but Snitch avoids it with no problem.
Hawtry throws a body punch but Snitch moves out of range.
Hawtry misses with a hook.
Snitch slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Snitch clinches up with Hawtry and pushes him back against the cage.
Snitch blocks an uppercut.
We've been hearing reports that Snitch has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Snitch manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hawtry on his heels. He'll look to pass Hawtry's guard now, I'm sure.

Snitch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hawtry sprawls well. Hawtry wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Snitch gets slowly back to his feet.

Snitch moves out of range as Hawtry throws a body kick.

Snitch closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hawtry quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snitch is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Hawtry keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Hawtry wants to get back to full guard but Snitch has passed into side control.
Hawtry is letting Snitch control him for a moment.
Snitch seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hawtry for as long as he can get away with.
Hawtry manages to work his way to half guard, despite Snitch's best efforts.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Hawtry bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Snitch's head.

Snitch clinches up with Hawtry and pushes him back against the cage.

Snitch is pushing Hawtry up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Hawtry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hawtry has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Snitch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Snitch is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hawtry has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Snitch finds it's way round the side to connect with Hawtry's head.
Snitch is looking to clinch but Hawtry is avoiding it.

Snitch lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Snitch moves out of range of the strikes.

and Snitch counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Hawtry wants to get back to striking at distance but Snitch won't allow it.

Hawtry uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Snitch.

Hawtry takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snitch changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hawtry looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


A lazy left from Hawtry finds it's target.
Hawtry connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Hawtry looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Snitch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Jon Snitch is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Snitch shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Snitch showed some decent athleticism there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hawtry tries to hold on but Snitch pushes him away.

Hawtry can't escape the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well Snitch has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
