Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Greene (ranked 2693 p4p, 344 weight class) and James Trenchard (ranked 6973 p4p, 0 weight class). Greene's entrance music is Oakland. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hunter Greene!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Trenchard!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trenchard gets caught napping as Greene dives in and scores a takedown. Trenchard manages to retain guard.
Greene landing with the ground and pound.
Greene trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Greene postures up and lands a big shot to Trenchard's brow.
Greene engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Greene in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Greene trying to control the position from guard on top but Trenchard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Greene gets to his feet. Trenchard looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Greene shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Greene looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Trenchard is not content to let Greene control the position.
Trenchard keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Greene throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Trenchard is not content to let Greene control the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Greene working Trenchard over with strikes.
Greene has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Greene wants to control but Trenchard is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Trenchard kicks off Greene and gets to his feet.

Greene shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Greene slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Greene trying to control from half guard but Trenchard is working away.

Greene is looking for a kimura but Trenchard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Greene to get the leverage.

Greene is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Greene gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Greene.
Greene postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Greene wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trenchard keeps working.
Trenchard takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Greene stands up.

Greene looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Greene drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Trenchard dives on top into guard.

Trenchard trying to control but Greene is working from the bottom.

Greene pushes Trenchard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Greene tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trenchard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Greene somewhat.
Greene stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Greene wants it to stay on the feet.

Greene closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Greene lands in his opponent's guard.
Trenchard wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Greene manages to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Trenchard is defended easily by Greene.

Trenchard gets caught flat footed, as Greene shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Greene wants to control from the top but Trenchard keeps moving.
Greene scoring with punches to the head and body.
Greene not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greene stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trenchard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Trenchard wants to sweep here but Greene controlling him for the moment.
Greene sitting in guard here, content to control.
Greene is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Greene wants to control from the top but Trenchard keeps moving.
Hunter Greene overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Greene trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Greene keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Trenchard's head.
Greene content to stall in guard here.
Greene has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Trenchard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Greene sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Trenchard somewhat.

Greene manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Trenchard on his heels. He'll look to pass Trenchard's guard now, I'm sure.

Greene postures up in Trenchard's guard and throws a big left but Trenchard blocks it.
Greene trying to control the position from guard on top but Trenchard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Greene passes Trenchard's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Greene drops an elbow to the side of Trenchard's head.

Greene decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Trenchard stuffs the takedown attempt from Greene. Greene gets slowly back to his feet.

Greene drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Greene working the head with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Greene wants to control but Trenchard is keeping him busy.
Greene lands some shots froms side control.
Trenchard is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Greene asserts his dominance and retains side control.
You can see the frustration on Trenchard's face as Greene controls the position.

Greene has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Greene shoots in for a takedown but Trenchard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Greene shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Trenchard pinned against the cage. Trenchard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Greene dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Greene dives in for a single leg takedown but Trenchard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Trenchard throws a fast counter high kick but Greene manages to duck under it in time.

Greene shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Trenchard's guard.

Trenchard looking for subs off his back but Greene has passed one foot through into half guard.

Greene looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Greene seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Trenchard for as long as he can get away with.
Greene trying to control from Trenchard's half guard. Trenchard has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Greene lands a couple of elbows.
Trenchard keeping moving, preventing Greene from controlling successfully.
Greene is stalling in the full guard.
Trenchard is looking to sweep but instead, Greene has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Greene connects with a nice short shot to Trenchard's temple.
Greene tries to pass the half guard into mount. Trenchard knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Greene thows a huge punch but Trenchard dodges it nicely.
Greene is taking a breather. Trenchard says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Greene looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trenchard is staying active underneath Greene, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Greene trying to mount his opponent but Trenchard defends it.

Greene seems to be looking for submissions.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Greene in particular looking to stall.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Greene changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Trenchard tries to avoid it but Greene manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Trenchard to the ground. Trenchard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Trenchard tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
James Trenchard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Trenchard is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Greene's half guard.

Greene kicks off Trenchard and gets to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Greene feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Greene, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
