The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid throws a looping overhand right but Markell ducks down to avoid it.
Markell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reid manages to avoid it.

Markell darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Markell works his way into full mount!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Markell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reid is looking to escape.
Poor strikes thrown by Markell there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Markell sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Reid knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Markell on the ground.

Markell is just content to waste time from the top position. Reid takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Reid will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
