Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joel Delgado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Absent Minded!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Delgado closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Delgado lands in his opponent's guard.
Delgado engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Delgado might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Minded is wriggling around but Delgado manages to pass to half guard.
Delgado really is a fat lump.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Delgado is trying to work for a kimura but Minded is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Minded is not content to let Delgado control the position.
Delgado stops Minded from getting back to his feet.
Delgado tries to stand and escape but Minded is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Minded shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Delgado manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Delgado lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Minded wants to get back to his feet but Delgado passes into half guard.

Delgado has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Delgado tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Minded.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Delgado is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Delgado seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Minded is looking to escape.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Minded drives through and clinches with Delgado against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Delgado tries to score a body lock takedown but Minded shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
A head punch on the inside from Delgado fails to land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Delgado shoots for a double leg takedown but Minded sprawls well. He's pushed Delgado's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Joel Delgado overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Minded decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Minded has his feet on Delgado's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No joy there for Minded, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Minded throws a right and a left that both miss.

Minded lands with a nice combination. Delgado backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Joel Delgado has been cut.

Minded shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Delgado preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Minded throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Minded trying to control from Delgado's half guard. Delgado has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Minded stands and steps away. Delgado gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Minded misses with a two punch combination.

Minded is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Delgado's half guard.

Delgado pushes Minded off and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nice takedown defense from Minded. No joy for Delgado on that attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Delgado takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Delgado tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Minded drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Delgado defends it well.
Minded fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Delgado fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Minded, pushing him back against the cage.
Delgado wants a takedown but no success here.
Minded's coach down at Lock and Roll Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Minded's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joel Delgado. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Delgado jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Minded walks away with a smile on his face. Delgado gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Minded misses with a double jab.
Minded throws a right hand that Delgado ducks under and follows up with a left that Delgado also avoids with ease.
Minded defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Delgado.

Minded shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Minded was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Minded throwing strikes but Delgado manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Minded explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Minded rushes Delgado and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Minded wants to get back to striking at distance but Delgado won't allow it.
Delgado has Minded pressed against the cage, preventing Minded from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Delgado takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Delgado is working for takedown but Minded is calmly controlling the position for now.

Minded turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Minded decides to stand back up. Minded steps back and let's Delgado get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Absent Minded showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Joel Delgado's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Minded prevents the takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Minded looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Minded has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Minded manages to break the clinch.

Delgado shoots in for a takedown but Minded shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joel Delgado. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Oooooh!!! Minded has knocked Delgado down with a huge combo! Minded steps away and waves a wobbly Delgado back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

and Minded counters with a huge left! Delgado is in big trouble! He's backing up but Minded isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Delgado from any more damage. A dominating finish by Minded!
