PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Melek Taus (ranked 8188 p4p, 672 weight class) and Gilberto Chamba (ranked 7642 p4p, 642 weight class). Taus comes to the ring accompanied by A Cry For Vengeance. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chamba pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Chamba throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Taus.
Chamba fails in his attempt to clinch.
Taus cracks Chamba with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

It looks like Gilberto Chamba has been cut.
Chamba moves out of range of the strikes.
Chamba stuns Taus with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Taus ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chamba moves away.
Chamba throws a leg kick but Taus sees it coming and moves out of range.
Chamba digs a good hook to Taus's body.
Chamba misses the shot to the body.
Chamba takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Taus blocks a head kick by Chamba.
Chamba wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Chamba takes a swing at Taus's ribcage but misses.
Taus has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Wild Beasts Zoo in the buildup to the fight.
Taus blocks a head kick by Chamba.
A counter left hand to the body from Taus misses its target.
Chamba is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Taus rather than just go for the knockout.
Chamba rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Taus counters with a good low kick that Chamba was not able to check.
A solid body kick from Taus.
Taus takes a jab right on the kisser.
Taus does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
As Taus backs off Chamba throws a huge counter combo but Taus manages to avoid it all.
Chamba takes one to the side of the head.
Chamba just misses with a punch to the body.
Taus thows a body kick. Chamba tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Chamba moves into the clinch.
Chamba misses with a hook to the ribs.
Chamba told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.
Chamba lands an uppercut.
Taus blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Taus misses with a body punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chamba throws a punch but it's blocked by Taus.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taus lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Chamba breaks from the clinch.
Taus ducks under a wild hook from Chamba.
Chamba takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Taus throws a leg kick which misses Chamba's front leg but catches the back leg as Chamba tries to avoid it.
Chamba on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A slapping body kick lands there for Taus.
Chamba looks winded!
Taus connects with the punch.
Taus scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Taus thuds a left hand into Chamba's body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chamba walks into a stiff left hand from Taus.

That has opened up Gilberto Chamba's cut even more.
Gilberto Chamba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taus circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Chamba tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Taus wins by KO!
