Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Cletus McDonald (ranked 2440 p4p, 304 weight class) and Lewis Temby (ranked 4318 p4p, 470 weight class). McDonald comes to the cage accompanied by Merle Haggard - Okie From Muskogee. Temby has chosen Welcome to the Jungle as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Temby misses with a takedown attempt

and McDonald counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by McDonald .

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Temby swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Temby shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

McDonald 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

McDonald seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
McDonald has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

McDonald seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Temby for as long as he can get away with.

Temby lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McDonald circles away quickly and effectively.
McDonald shoots for a double leg takedown but Temby sprawls well. He's pushed McDonald 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Temby's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

McDonald closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Temby felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
McDonald is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Temby's shoulder. That is not cool.
Temby is trying to control McDonald 's posture but McDonald avoids it.
McDonald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
