PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Otis Bowman (ranked 25033 p4p, 0 weight class) and Enyinnaya Abiodun (ranked 6197 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Otis Bowman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Enyinnaya Abiodun!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abiodun drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Abiodun decides to stand back up.

Abiodun shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bowman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Abiodun missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Abiodun trying to control but Bowman is working from the bottom.
Abiodun slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Abiodun wants to control from the top but Bowman keeps moving.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abiodun lands a couple of digs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Abiodun postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Abiodun works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Abiodun throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Abiodun controlling the pace.

Abiodun stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bowman to get to his feet.
Otis Bowman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Abiodun fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bowman, pushing him back against the cage.

Abiodun controls Bowman momentarily but Bowman frees himself.
Abiodun is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bowman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Abiodun is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bowman won't allow Abiodun to sweep him here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Abiodun is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Abiodun wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Bowman closes the distance and clinches.
Bowman misses with some punches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bowman.
Abiodun tries to break the clinch but Bowman is controlling the position.
Abiodun wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Enyinnaya Abiodun dominated that round.
That's time! Bowman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Abiodun gets a takedown into half guard.
Abiodun content to control rather than advance.
Abiodun is looking to take a break and control but Bowman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Abiodun wants to stand up but Bowman has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Bowman is staying active underneath Abiodun, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Abiodun is working for a kimura but Bowman is defending it quite comfortably.
Bowman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Abiodun is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Abiodun throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bowman was covering up waiting for the punch and Abiodun finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Bowman scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Abiodun closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bowman did well to prevent Abiodun getting side control.
Bowman tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Abiodun manages to move to mount!

Abiodun lands a heavy elbow.

Abiodun fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Abiodun lands a couple of good shots and Bowman has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Abiodun is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Bowman knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Bowman for a finish.
Abiodun has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Abiodun controlling the positon.
Abiodun controlling well, preventing Bowman from escaping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Enyinnaya Abiodun showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Abiodun closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bowman quickly recovers to half guard.
Abiodun has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Abiodun engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Abiodun scores with a takedown into Bowman's guard.

Bowman is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Abiodun presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Abiodun pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Abiodun pushes Bowman up against the cage in a clinch.

Abiodun jumps into guard, dragging Bowman to the mat.
Bowman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Abiodun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bowman is one step ahead there.

Abiodun keeping moving, preventing Bowman from controlling successfully.

Abiodun isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Bowman stacks Abiodun on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Bowman!
Enyinnaya Abiodun has got the better of the ground game so far.

Abiodun tries to get back to half guard but can't.

I would just about give that final round to Enyinnaya Abiodun.
I've got Abiodun winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
