Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Toney Brewer (ranked 8901 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armend Berisha (ranked 6070 p4p, 616 weight class). Toney Brewer had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berisha with a poor takedown
and Brewer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Berisha throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Brewer counters by moving into the clinch.
Brewer stalling the fight.
Berisha tries to pull guard but Brewer forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The referee calls for Brewer to work.
Brewer is pushing Berisha up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Brewer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Berisha's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brewer under the eye.

It looks like Toney Brewer has been cut.
Brewer slips a straight right by Berisha.
Berisha throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Brewer counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Berisha throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Brewer's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Berisha dives in looking to finish as Brewer flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Berisha's strikes! Berisha is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Brewer's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Brewer was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
