PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junkyard Dog (ranked 1200 p4p, 172 weight class) and Thoreaux AssKicken (ranked 1230 p4p, 176 weight class). AssKicken is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Winds of Change. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Thoreaux AssKicken was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junkyard Dog!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thoreaux AssKicken!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
AssKicken defending well as Dog loads up on a big left hand.
Dog throws the kick towards the body but AssKicken avoids it.
We've been hearing reports that Dog has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
AssKicken is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dog.
AssKicken throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Dog uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from AssKicken.
Dog displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as AssKicken throws out the jab.
AssKicken circles away from the clinch attempt
and AssKicken counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Dog swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
AssKicken works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
AssKicken throws a body shot but no joy.

Dog closes the distance and clinches.
Dog throws an elbow that misses.

AssKicken lands a body punch.
A right hook to the body lands for Dog.
AssKicken jumps guard but Dog stands there with AssKicken around his waist. AssKicken gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Dog throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

AssKicken gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
AssKicken tries to free his leg and advance position but Dog is retaining full guard.
Dog trying to keep a closed guard but AssKicken is proving a slippery customer.
Dog utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

AssKicken got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dog has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, AssKicken has managed to get both his arms back between Dog's legs - danger averted.
AssKicken wants to pass the guard but Dog is keeping the position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw AssKicken working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
AssKicken works over Dog with some ground and pound from guard.
AssKicken pushes down on Dog's leg and manages to get into half guard.
AssKicken throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Dog wants to improve his position but AssKicken is controlling well.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, AssKicken cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Dog is wriggling around trying to escape.
AssKicken has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
AssKicken lands a big elbow.
Dog is in a horrible position here. AssKicken smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
AssKicken prevents Dog from getting the reversal.
AssKicken cracks Dog with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
AssKicken fails to take his opponent's back.

AssKicken landing punches.
Dog sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

AssKicken is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
AssKicken is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
The referee warns Dog that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

AssKicken looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Dog is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

AssKicken is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Dog has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Dog!

AssKicken escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dog gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

AssKicken is looking for a triangle but Dog pushes his legs off easily.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thoreaux AssKicken dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


AssKicken throws a lazy right hand but Dog sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
AssKicken has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dog looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

and AssKicken counters with a nice uppercut.
Dog wants to clinch
and AssKicken counters with a nice body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dog looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Dog takes one to the side of the head.
AssKicken throws a leg kick which misses Dog's front leg but catches the back leg as Dog tries to avoid it.

Thoreaux AssKicken seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

AssKicken throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
AssKicken swings away with a leg kick that misses.
AssKicken rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dog moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Thoreaux AssKicken seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nice uppercut lands for Dog. That snapped AssKicken's head back.

and AssKicken cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
AssKicken throws a leg kick which misses Dog's front leg but catches the back leg as Dog tries to avoid it.

A little jabbing left from AssKicken on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dog or perhaps it was just good defense by AssKicken, which made it look bad.

Dog blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
AssKicken can't find room to land a body shot as Dog controls the action.
Dog goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Dog lands a shot to the body.

AssKicken is trying to drag Dog to the mat but Dog just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
AssKicken is breathing heavily.
Dog throws an elbow but it misses.
Dog pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
AssKicken avoids a wild elbow strike from Dog.

Dog looks to throw an elbow but misses.
AssKicken blocks the elbow strike.
Dog digs a right hand underneath AssKicken's ribcage. AssKicken let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Dog lands a body shot in the clinch.

Dog escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A low kick from AssKicken is predictable there
and Dog counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Thoreaux AssKicken has been cut.
AssKicken bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
AssKicken gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
AssKicken moves forwards but Dog connects with a nice, crisp jab.
AssKicken blocks a jab.
AssKicken misses with a straight right.
AssKicken throws a jab when Dog was well out of range.
AssKicken throws an off balance right hand
and Dog counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dog throws an ugly left hook that misses
and AssKicken counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dog waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract AssKicken.
Dog throws a jab but it's blocked by AssKicken.
Dog lands with a shot to the body.
Dog throws a looping overhand right but AssKicken ducks down to avoid it.
Good work by AssKicken as he checks the leg kick.
Dog scores with a nice right hand.
BOOM! Dog lands a beautiful left hook that drops AssKicken. AssKicken tries to recover but Dog is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and AssKicken lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Junkyard Dog!
Junkyard Dog gave a mention to KAISER Nutrition - Q160 in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
