The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rivers takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Stokes lands a left and a right that sends Rivers crashing to the canvas! Stokes dives into mount looking to finish!

It looks like Rocco Rivers has been cut.

Rivers wants to control but Stokes is having none of it.

Stokes has control of Rivers's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rivers regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Rivers is squirming around, avoiding Stokes's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stokes loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rivers scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Stokes land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Stokes stands and salutes the crowd.

After the fight, Shawnee Stokes was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
