The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruane with a lazy takedown attempt
and Ballbag counters with an outside leg kick.
Ballbag tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ruane is able to avoid easily.
Ballbag ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ruane moves away.

and Ruane counters with a stiff right hand.
Ruane shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ballbag as he jumps to the side.
Ruane shoots in but no luck this time.
Ballbag appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Ballbag seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ruane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ballbag might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ruane haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
