Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thorn Drysdale (ranked 2674 p4p, 131 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 3255 p4p, 157 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Thorn Drysdale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drysdale cracks a nice hook into Aldo's ribs.

Drysdale gets caught flat footed, as Aldo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Drysdale pulls Aldo in close to prevent any damage.
Drysdale has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Drysdale is working an open guard so Aldo takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aldo tries to clinch up but Drysdale circles away and keeps his distance.
Drysdale ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aldo moves away.
Aldo fails with a takedown attempt.

A left lands for Drysdale.
Aldo slips under a jab.
Aldo tries to move into range but Drysdale moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Aldo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Aldo ducks under a wild hook from Drysdale.
Drysdale fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aldo manages to avoid it.

Aldo clinches up with Drysdale and pushes him back against the cage.
Drysdale presses Aldo against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Aldo is trying to drag Drysdale to the mat but Drysdale just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Aldo gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Drysdale regains guard.
Aldo tries to free his leg and advance position but Drysdale is retaining full guard.
Aldo advances position into side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Aldo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Drysdale keeps the fight on the outside.

Aldo gets a takedown into half guard.

Aldo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Drysdale controlling the position well.
Aldo wants to pass the guard but Drysdale is defending well.

Aldo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Drysdale sees it coming and defends easily.
Drysdale works his way to full guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Aldo stands and steps away. Drysdale gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Drysdale tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Aldo was well out of range. Poor timing from Drysdale.
Drysdale rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Aldo counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Drysdale clinches up against the cage.

Aldo turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Aldo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
The fighters circle momentarily. Drysdale darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Drysdale tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Aldo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Drysdale thows a left - swing and a miss!
Aldo dives in for a single leg takedown but Drysdale sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Thorn Drysdale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.
Drysdale uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Aldo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Drysdale has Aldo pressed against the cage.
Aldo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Drysdale fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Aldo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Drysdale's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jose Aldo will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Drysdale paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Aldo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Aldo has a takedown stuffed.
Drysdale throws a lazy right hand but Aldo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Drysdale connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Aldo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Drysdale paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Drysdale swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Drysdale connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Nice straight punches there by Drysdale. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Drysdale.
Drysdale slaps away a takedown attempt from Aldo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Thorn Drysdale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.

Aldo wants to control from the top but Drysdale keeps moving.
Drysdale wants to sweep here but Aldo controlling him for the moment.
Aldo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Drysdale swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Drysdale pulls Aldo in close to prevent any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Thorn Drysdale is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Aldo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Drysdale misses with a straight left.
Aldo moves out of range as Drysdale strikes.
Aldo dives in and grabs Drysdale's left leg, looking for a takedown. Drysdale pushes down on Aldo's head and hops out.
An attempted straight right counter from Drysdale misses the target.
Aldo bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Drysdale throws an overhand right that lands on Aldo's shoulder, as Aldo tries to avoid the shot.
Aldo tries to clinch up.
Aldo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Aldo doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Drysdale to counter with a crisp jab.


Aldo is rocked!
and Drysdale counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Aldo! He's just covering up as Drysdale starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thorn Drysdale!
