Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keith Chegwin (ranked 6036 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Ruane (ranked 24972 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Ruane is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keith Chegwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Ruane!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruane closes the distance and clinches up with Chegwin, looking for a takedown. Ruane pushes Chegwin against the cage but Chegwin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ruane tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chegwin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ruane somewhat.
Ruane shoots in and drives through. Chegwin sprawls well.
Keith Chegwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Ruane.
Ruane tries to clinch but Chegwin moves out of range.

Chegwin drives through and clinches with Ruane against the cage.
Ruane wants to get back to striking at distance but Chegwin won't allow it.

Ruane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chegwin swivels and escapes.
Chegwin misses with a hook.
Chegwin looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruane is just out of range.
Ruane moves in looking to clinch but Chegwin pushes him off.
Ruane throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chegwin's waist but Chegwin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ruane off to one side.

and Ruane makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Ruane steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Chegwin.
Ruane fails in his attempt to clinch.

Chegwin tries to keep at a distance but Ruane has taken the fight into the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Chegwin throws an elbow but misses.

It looks like Brandon Ruane has been cut.
Ruane is trying to pull guard but Chegwin has him pressed against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Chegwin.

Chegwin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ruane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ruane tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chegwin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ruane throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Chegwin lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ruane backwards.
Ruane has Chegwin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Chegwin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ruane is trying to pull guard but Chegwin has him pressed against the cage.
Chegwin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Chegwin breaks the clinch.
Chegwin moves out of range as Ruane throws a body kick.
Good leg kick by Chegwin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Chegwin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ruane steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Chegwin. That one must have hurt.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ruane lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Chegwin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Chegwin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Ruane avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Ruane doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Chegwin counters with a good, hard body kick but Ruane shrugs it off.
Chegwin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ruane's waist but Ruane gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Chegwin off to one side.
Ruane only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Chegwin ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Chegwin closes the distance and clinches up with Ruane, looking for a takedown. Chegwin pushes Ruane against the cage but Ruane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Chegwin lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Chegwin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruane can do to turn this around?
Ruane is looking to break free of the clinch but Chegwin has double underhooks.
Chegwin creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ruane's defenses.

Ruane shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chegwin pinned against the cage. Chegwin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

A little jabbing left from Ruane on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Ruane takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ruane enables Chegwin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ruane manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
